Real Estate in France.
I was invited to Paris by a Real Estate company to pitch a product concept for a new market they were planning to enter.
Project Goal.
Design a mobile application that can help the firm connect Buyers, Sellers, and Notaries in one place.
Problem.
A person looking to buy a property can not connect directly with the seller without the participation of a Notary.
Solution.
Design a clever solution to connect all three parties within the limits of the Law.
Challenge.
Getting up to speed with the Laws and Regulations of the Real Estate process in France.
Interviews.
I conducted a series of interviews with the Firm’s partners to get a solid understanding of their purchasing/selling process.
Feature Set.
I created a Feature Set document to discuss with the client and agree on the important features the product needed to include.
Prodcut Iterations.
I began with wireframes that I would then discuss with one of the partners of the firm. A few rounds helped us define the product vision.
Hi-Fi designs.
Create Hi-Fi designs that aligned with the design identity the firm wanted for the product.
UI/UX Objective.
Design an elegant experience that focused on showcasing available properties while creating an easy communication channel for those interested in purchasing.
The home screen of the application needed to work as the main connector between all of the different interfaces. It was important to keep the “Listings Feed” simple and ensure we were adding the information that was required by law.
Tapping on the city name would quickly create a drop-down with the cities with most listings. Search was an important functionality throughout conversations with the client.
Buyer focused features included a Map with listings in their approximate location, a Listing details screen, and a direct request message to engage with the seller.
Early Response.
The firm was enthusiastic about the direction and gave me a green light to continue with the following features.
After various iterations on the Seller Mode, the firm decided to remove it because it is not entirely legal in the country to showcase Buying and Selling capabilities under on app. So we created a quick contact me button that sent the user account info to the firm.
If the user was a Notary by profession, I designed a quick door via the settings page where the user could certify himself as a Notary. That opened the door to a set of new features that allowed him to share his listings with the company.
The firm wanted to use the app, so to avoid building a separate application, I added an “Easter Egg” that would trigger the Admin experience. Here the Admins could monitor the listings, connect with buyers and upload important documents needed for transactions.
Tablet
A few months after, the Firm reached out because they wanted me to do the iPad version for them :).
The goal with the tablet design was to create a Magazine-like experience that accentuated pictures and clean design.
Disclosure.
The vast majority of my work is IP protected and I can only show small amounts of my designs. In case you are interested in learning more about my work please reach out to me via email and I can walk you through the details of the process.
